Deze bijeenkomst heeft als centraal thema: onderzoeksmethoden om de bijdragen van vrouwen in de kunst, op nieuwe en interdisciplinaire wijze, zichtbaar te maken.

Drie sprekers verzorgen lezingen over dit onderwerp, waaronder Susanna Avery-Quash (National Gallery, Londen), die zich uitvoerig heeft beziggehouden met vrouwelijke donateurs en het Britse instituut.

Jenny Reynaerts zal eveneens een update geven over de voortgang van het project 'De andere helft' en de resultaten presenteren van de vragenlijst over huidige projecten die onderzoek doen naar vrouwen in Nederlandse kunstmusea en hun collecties.

The focus of the meeting is research methods on overlooked people in history. As the contributions of women in the arts have been historically underrepresented, it is important to share and discuss methodologies for identifying and making visible their contributions. The expert meeting will also explore how to approach research on women in the arts, using new methods and interdisciplinary perspectives.

We are honored to have two speakers, each with their unique perspective, who will give a lecture of 15 minutes followed by comments from a referee and time for questions. The meeting will begin with a short introduction by Jenny Reynaerts, who will set the tone for the discussions that will follow.

Susanna Avery-Quash

The first speaker, Susanna Avery-Quash (senior research curator and interim head of curatorial at the National Gallery London), will discuss the research she conducted with Christine Riding on female benefactors to the National Gallery.

Bert-Jaap Koops

The second speaker, Bert-Jaap Koops (independent art historian), will speak on the collector Johanna Adriana Cornelia van Bilderbeek-Lamaison van Heenvliet, who donated her collection to the Dordrechts Museum. 

Jenny Reynaerts will conclude as she will be presenting on the progress of "De andere helft," providing a comprehensive overview of the results obtained through the questionnaire, and making an announcement regarding the upcoming ESNA conference.
