Call for Proposals - PhDs in the Humanities

The Camino Laurent van Vught Fund and LUCAS offer candidates who graduated from a MA or ResMA programme an opportunity to prepare a research proposal for the NWO PhDs in the Humanities grant scheme. The Fund provides three months of research time, and is open to candidates who reside in the Netherlands. In line with the Fund’s objectives, the research proposal, to be written in full during the fellowship, should focus on the history of early modern art, architecture or material culture, and should be interdisciplinary in nature. Candidates should submit an abstract of max. 300 words on the intended research proposal, a short bibliography of the most important primary and secondary literature, and a short bio.

The successful candidate will be selected by a committee consisting of Stijn Bussels (chair), Marika Keblusek, Sybille Lammes and Judith Pollmann. All communication, as well as proposals, will go through Stijn Bussels (s.p.m.bussels@hum.leidenuniv.nl).

• 15 March 2025 - Deadline proposals to be sent to S.P.M.Bussels@hum.leidenuniv.nl
• End of April 2025 - Final election by the committee
• 1 September 2025 - Start of the fellowship
